The ‘roots’ of Ginger Root!

The Beginning; to the Strend!

As we’ve recently entered into a new decade, we’ve been reflecting on how far Ginger Root has come; as well as looking forward to the next chapter of our journey.

Within six short years, Ginger Root has employed over 20 people across six services, increased to four directors with individual specialities and set up two main sites where we manage, produce and distribute work for a variety of national clients.

So, where did it all begin?

At the start of 2014, Director Andy Middleton was managing a printing business called ‘Graphite’, alongside his colleague Helen. Whilst working in marketing, Director Anthony Scoon attended a networking event where he and Andy met. It was a simple conversation here that sparked the beginning of their joint business venture. As for the naming of Ginger Root, they like to claim that it’s in honour of their hair colour, but in truth they just really liked the idea of a fun and quirky business name that would stand out.

As Ginger Root grew establishment in the first year of business, Vic joined to help with print finishing and administration. After celebrating their one-year anniversary as a printing company, Ginger Root was ready to take on a new service…

Soon after, Ginger Root acquired Director Alex Crabtree’s design company ‘As Well As’, strengthening the design service and redefining Ginger Root as a ‘print and design’ business. With the growth in company, we introduced a designated Finance Manager, Laura. We also moved to our current head office on Daleside Road. What a year!

2017 – Clothing and Promo.

Whilst 2017 was a year of new faces, it was also the first goodbye as print finisher and administrator Vic moved on to her travels around the world before beginning university. To support the printing service, Ginger Root took on our print and fitting duo Justin and Chris. This year also welcomed Hannah Bullock and the partnership with her clothing and promotional items company ‘Pulse Custom Wear’; adding yet another service to our business. We were also joined by Paul who offered his talent in design to the creative team. With the expansion in our team and services, the demand for a new account manager also arose; giving us the pleasure of hiring Katie.

With an evolving brand and service offering, this was an exciting challenge that helped to unite each service and grow Ginger Root to the company it is today.

2018 saw another big milestone with the acquisition of printing company ‘Print Revolution’, along with new print manager Paul. Print specialists Justin and Chris moved to the production site in Lenton, along with our high spec print and finishing equipment, to join Paul and Print Revolution’s litho printing facilities.
